How to manage stress
I feel like we all tend to stress a little more than we should.. Here are a few tips to get you to manage it when it arrives and how to prevent it.
The first tip is to prevent it in the first place, stress is often caused when we have too much going on. So sometimes, the best thing to do is just say no and limit the things you need to stress about.
Don't put too much pressure on yourself! I know i personally tend to do that as i want to do so many things and well. But, we are only human and can only do so much so we must remember to be kind to ourselves and realize that we can't do everything.
Prioritize! Make a list of the most important things and focus all your energy on those things. Going out to see your friends may be important but maybe at that present moment, your school might be taking up more energy and time and that is ok. There is a time for everything and some periods are more stressful than others.
Take a day off! I know i tend to feel guilty for taking a day off and i always feel like i need to work as my computer is always with me, but sometimes taking a day off everything and turning off all digital devices is the best thing you can do to recharge for the next stressful period.
Sleep! Sleep is so important! It is the best way to recharge so don't feel bad for sleeping in sometimes. It does the body a lot of good!
Exercise! Getting those endorphins going can be a massive stress relief! Whether it is dancing, cardio, running or working out. But don't feel guilty of you don't. Sometimes, just resting from that too is ok.
Take control! Find solutions to the stressful situations. Write down what the problems are and find solutions to the problems that are stressing you.
Limit caffeine! A bit is fine, but often we reach for more to get more energy when we should be resting instead. Too much caffeine releases cortisol and makes you more stressed. So just limit it.
Eat healthy! Make sure you get all your nutrients! Vitamins and minerals! Eat the rainbow and drink lots of fresh water. It will give you the energy to fight the stress.
Keep a stress diary, write down what you are stressed about and why and how you can reduce it. It will help you have a clearer mind and deal with your stress.
